Robbie Lane & The Disciples: “Ain’t Dead Yet”

album1Formed in the early 60’s by Robbie Lane with members from various Toronto band’s, Robbie Lane & The Disciples had a string of hits between 1964-1967. By the end of the 60’s the Disciples broke up with Lane continuing in the music business as a solo artist, while other key members of the band went on to various jobs.

In the 1980’s, the original version of Robbie Lane And The Disciples reunited and continue to play on a semi-professional basis at concerts and nightclubs across Ontario.

In 1995 the band recorded a “live” album called,Aeneid Dead Yet which consists mainly of the “oldies” covers and past hits that are featured in their lounge act. The CD also features as a bonus and of interest to collectors, three studio recordings of the original band. The songs, which are the highlight of this album, include the band’s biggest hit, “Fannie Mae” originally released on the Hawk label in 1964, a previously unreleased Hawk label song from 1964 ,“You Broke My Spirit”, and “You Gotta Have Love” from the Capitol Records label originally released in 1966.
