Graham Parker & The Rumor are perhaps best known for their rendition of "Hold Back The Night". What many fans do no know is this staple song was first heard in the music charts from an otherwise little-known band called The Trammps.
As Graham Parker reflects, "Being Englishmen, we (the band) didn't talk to each other much. Generally, a few neanderthal grunts served as pointers and defining moments in the art of solidifying musical arrangements, set-lists and hairstyles, and somehow in this ethereal stew of non-communication I must have broached the idea of covering "Hold Back The Night", and somehow, the idea must have been accepted. That the song had been in the charts only recently in its original version...did not deter us in the slightest, our intention being merely to fill in the gap between albums in the time-honoured tradition of E.P.'s like the Stones and the Beatles used to do."
Graham Parker and "Hold Back The Night" can now be heard once again, thanks to the recent issue of BBC Live 1977-1991.

This album examines the music of Parker & The Rumors through a fourteen year span, from his earlier British "New Wave" period to fairly recent works.
BBC Live 1977-1991 presents a Parker at the best of his game, the live performance, which is suiting considering Parker's emergence from the live London pub-rock scene in the early '70s. A fine work for old and newer fans alike.
