 Ian Hunter: "Rant"
With over four decades of performing to his credit, Ian Hunter proves he still has what it takes to put out a good album with his newest release Rant. Hunter established himself as a solid singer/songwriter in the late 60's and early 70's with Mott the Hopple, and after the demise of the band released his first solo effort in 1975. This self-entitled album launched his solo career and associations with the likes of Queen, Generation X, and Urgent, to name a few.

Continually releasing albums over the decades, Hunter has been given credit as an inspiration by such names as Motley Crue, REM, Def Leppard, Kiss and The Clash. His creations have also been performed by a wide range of artists which include Barry Manilow, The Pointer Sisters and Willie Nelson. He has also had his hands in the field of production work, co-producing this new release as well.

With the raspiness of his voice, and his song-writing abilities, Hunter's Rant

is both creative and interesting. He offers unique views and a little anger about his country and the world in general through creations such as: "Death of a Nation", "American Spy", "Morons", and "Ripoff". Although "Knees of My Heart" and "No One" may not be put in the standard "love Ballad" classification, each is beautifully done. As you listen, a love story emerges out of both songs showing the profound sensitivity of Hunter. On the flip side, Hunter shows both the passion and bitterness there can be after a one-night stand with "Good Samaritan".

With this release Hunter proves that he still loves rock and roll, as is the title of the first song on the album. He also proves that he still has not just what it takes to write, but has something interesting to say about the world as well, which is sometimes lost in today's music. This combination makes for a very successful effort. Hunter, keep on ranting…
