First of all you fill out the paperwork.....
TORONTO, October 11, 2000...If you’re a Canadian recording artist and you released a record this past year, you may have a Juno winner on your hands.
To find out more information, contact the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), who are currently soliciting submissions from Canadian artists (citizens or landed immigrants) in 38 categories this year, covering music released during the September 1, 1999 to November 30, 2000 eligibility period. For all juried categories the cutoff date is November 15, 2000 to accommodate the nominating and voting critical path.
If you think you don’t stand a chance, check this out:
Did You Know:
- An artist doesn’t have to have huge sales to qualify. Of the 38
categories, 29 have absolutely no sales qualification.
- Artists don’t have to have national distribution to be eligible for
the Junos.
- A recording does not have to meet the Cancon regulations to
qualify. It’s the nationality of the artist that counts.
- Artists, songwriters, producers, recording engineers, video
directors, etc. can make their own submissions. They do not have to wait for someone else to notice their work.
- Recordings in ALL languages are eligible.
Deadline for juried category submissions is November 15 and the categories with nominations based on sales are due on January 2, 2001.
