Around the same time the Jakob Dylan-led The Wallflowers made their debut,
there was a Canadian band already going by the same name. The Canadian band
graciously decided to change their name, however, and became known as the
Barstool Prophets.
The band released their first CD Deflowered with a sound that paralleled
some of their Canadian rock contemporaries, The Odds and the Headstones. The band's
debut major label release Crank achieved moderate success throughout
Canada and the United States, and lead to a growing fan base.

As quickly as the Barstool Prophets appeared, however, the band seemed to disappear.
They released Last Of The Big Game Hunters in 1997 and haven't recorded since, despite
the continued calls of fans for new material.
