French-Canadian music is, foremost, a way to express the French Canadian culture. It reflects that culture and criticizes it through sometimes humorous, sometimes ironic lenses. It also exploits different styles (pop. blues, country, traditional, rock, jazz), which demonstrates the influences that it has been exposed to. It remains always rich in emotions, and these are wonderfully expressed by its authors and interpreters. We hope that this web site will give you the chance to discover new artists, to familiarize yourself to the French canadian music, but most of all to appreciate it.
La musique canadienne francophone est d'abord un moyen d'expression de la culture francophone. Elle reflete cette culture et y jette un regard parfois critique, parfois humoristique, parfois ironique. Elle exploite differents styles (populaire, blues, country, musique traditionnelle, rock, jazz), ce qui montre les influences auxquelles ses auteurs ont ete exposes. Elle reste toujours riche en emotions, et ses dernieres sont admirablement transmises par ses auteurs et interpretes. J'espere que ce site vous permettra de decouvrir de nouveaux artistes, de vous familiariser avec la musique canadienne francophone, mais d'abord et avant tout, de l'apprecier.

This comprehensive list of French-Canadian and Acadian artists could not have been made possible without the help of a very special person: Isabelle Prince. Isabelle wrote us one day asking the question of why we had left out a number of prominent French-Canadian artists in our directory. The answer is...well, we didn't feel proper compiling a list of something which we know nothing about. This is where Isabelle is a saviour. She dedicated hours of her time to assembling the list of fine musicians you see above...and teaching us something about another culture in the process. We only hope we have done her work justice.
