The Stampeders: "New Day" |

"New Day", the bands fifth album released in 1974, continued the
experimental direction started with "From The Fire" released the year
before. While not nearly as theme centered as the previous outing, "New
Day" contained some spectacular guitar work from Dodson along with some
string and moog accompaniment.
Although the band did return to the more
commercial approach on some songs in the album, the singles from "New Day",
"Ramona", and an alternate version (complete with moog!) of "Wild Eyes",

appeared on Carryin' On, and the live favorite "Marigold",
and the majority
of the songs on the album were not typical of past
Stampeders hits and would define the Stampeders heavier direction for the
rest of the 70's.
This reissue of "New Day" by Unidisc Music Inc. features
the original album graphics and superb sound although there are no bonus
tracks. The fold out booklet contains lyrics to all of the songs contained
on the album.
