The Stampeders: "Carryin' On" |
 |
One of the biggest Canadian bands of the 1970's was the Stampeders. In an
aggressive reissue campaign, Unidisc Music Inc. is reissuing the entire
Stampeders catalogue on CD format.
With the world wide success of The
Stampeders debut album, "Against the Grain", the band quickly returned to
the studio to record a follow up. 1972 saw the release of The Stampeders'
second album "Carryin' On," The leadoff single from the album was, "Devil
You". The single became an instant hit and secured the bands place as one
of the top bands in Canada.

and attracted many new fans that dismissed the first album
as commercial country rock.
Although the album contained songs that
mirrored the commercial style of the debut such as "Monday Morning Choo
Choo" and "Devil You" , it also featured hard rockers "Wild Eyes," and the
politically conscious song "Then Came The White Man". What was beginning to
attract many fans to The Stampeders was their musical versatility and in
retrospect this was also the thing that would eventually lead to the band's
downfall years later.
This reissue of "Carryin' On' by Unidisc Music Inc
features the original album graphics and superb sound. Unfortunately there
are no bonus tracks on this version.
