 Highstreet: "Last Call"
The band Highstreet was formed in Sherbrooke Quebec in 1968 by Mick Hall with brother Ted Hall joining the unit in 1973. With numerous line up changes over the years, the band honed their skills by playing at local Quebec clubs and local shows.

In 1977 the band’s big break came when they recorded a demo that was aired on the local CBC talent show, Goldrush, hosted by Terry David Mulligan. With help from the bands new manager Brian Pombiere, they landed a deal with Epic/Global Records to put out the first Highstreet album, She Won't Be Waiting.

The album was recorded in two sessions in 1978 at Plus Four Studio in Franklin, Quebec and at Thunder Sound in Toronto where the album was mixed. The lineup by this for the first album consisted of Mick and Ted Hall on guitars and vocals, Jim Buck on bass and vocals, Butch Coulter on harmonica and acoustic guitar, and John Berry on drums. Before the release of the album the band went out on the road and played everywhere from Quebec to Yellowknife honing their skills and improving their live show.

The debut album , She Won't Be Waiting was released in the spring of 1979 and Highstreet

was constantly on the road touring and making a name for themselves. The album secured a large fan base for the band but unfortunately there were no hit singles released from the album and the album received very little airplay.

In 1980 the band decided to release another album independently. The album was recorded at Kensington Sound in Toronto and mixed at Phase One Studios during the summer of '80. By the time the recording was completed the band had run out of money and by the fall of 1981 they were only able to press 300 copies of the second Highstreet album, Industrial Strength. To promote the album the band was booked with The Powder Blues band for a couple of shows in Lennoxville and Sherbrooke Quebec. While critically acclaimed ,the concerts bombed leaving the promoters not enough money to pay the bands. In 1981 Highstreet decided to call it a day and broke up.

Last Call, the only CD release by Highstreet, contains the entire She Won't Be Waiting album plus songs from Industrial Strength and two previously unreleased Highstreet songs. Released on the independent MICA Records label, this CD is available through the band’s official website.
