It was also evident that the
new songs penned by Dave Carroll were big hits of the night. The
brothers shared this amazing performance with their band made up of
Reece Nearing (bass), Julian Marentette (drums) and Kim Dunn
(keyboard).
Two sets later, the crowd was not ready for the night to end as they
brought Sons of Maxwell back for 2 encores. In the tradition of Sons
of
Maxwell fans, they travelled long distances to experience the band in
this setting. Fans arrived from Michigan, New Jersey,
Ohio, California, various parts of Ontario and the Maritimes. One of
the
new songs, Lady from LA, was dedicated to one fan who travelled from
Los
Angeles, California to experience Sons of Maxwell live for the first
time.
Barrymore's Director of Entertainment, Johnny Vegas, was extremely
pleased with the night, asking the band to come back more often. Leader
of his own band, Johnny Vegas and the Johnny Vegas Orchestra, he said
he
"hopes someday to be able to fill Barrymore's like Sons of Maxwell".
Trademark intense harmonies enhanced by the richness of the full band
has elevated Sons of Maxwell to new dimensions. The sold out
Barrymore's
crowd before show time is another.
Sons of Maxwell will return to Barrymore's to kick off St. Patrick's
Day
weekend on Friday March 16th, 2001.
