Former Mouseketeers-turned-stars seems to be the going rage these days. Christina Aguilera, Keri Russel, one of those N'Sync guys and of course, Britney Spears have all been down the same path. It's been a long way from the Mouse Club. Gone are the days of plastic rodent ears to make way for curve hugging pants, bustiers and items that need no further mention. Spears certainly has come a long way. The parody "make my boobies one more size" says it all.

Showing strong signs of musical talent at a young age and taking dance lessons lead to Spears' early start in show-biz. Spending summers in New York City at the Off-Broadway Dance Center and the Professional Performing Arts School, she appeared in several commercials and Off-Broadway productions. Shortly thereafter she joined the infamous "Mickey Mouse Club" for a couple of years before the show folded.
At age 15, Spears auditioned for an all-girl singing group and it was at this time that she decided that she was a better solo act. After getting an audition tape together she signed a recording contract with Jive Records.

"...Baby, One More Time" was released to overwhelming success for the young performer. A school girl image appeared on the album cover and appealed to a wide audience with the strong base being females under age 13. A Grammy nomination was garnered by Spears for "Best New Female Artist" however she lost to her former mouser co-star Aguilera.
Spears' second album, "Oops I did it Again" was released in 2000 with a whole new look. A Madonnaesque Spears graces the album cover of an album that contains lyrics not too far from the style of Madonna's. Her success remains admirable and her songs are catchy. Though not all are those anyone would like their young daughter repeating let alone understanding.
Spears attribute her success to her family and her faith in God. She is confident that her music will mature as she does and she hopes to develop as a person along with it. Her young fans and closet-fans will probably be there to watch it happen.
