Formerly a folk-rock act circulating the Canadian coffeehouse scene, Matthew Good dropped acoustic guitar-strumming to form the indie-rock group - the Matthew Good Band. The switch in acts came in 1995 when Good, originally from Coquitlam, B.C. succumbed to the stress of dealing with the wandering way of life and always being the underdog.

Firing the original band and relocating to Vancouver proved to be a good move. The 1995 self-released debut album Last of the Ghetto Astronauts sold over 22,000 copies and became one of Canada’s highest selling independent releases of all-time. Soon afterwards the band, consisting of guitarist/keyboardist, David Genn, bassist Geoff Lloyd and drummer Ian Browne, were signed by A&M Records and the album was re-released. 1998 saw the release of Underdogs which went Platinum in sales, had several hit singles and garnered three Juno nominations.

The album also gave the world notice that the band was no longer the underdog. Bassist, Lloyd left the band and was replaced by Rich Priske. The single “Hello Time Bomb" from their follow-up release Beautiful Midnight debuted in the No.1 spot on Canada’s album charts and sold close to 25,000 copies.
The massive hype that continues to be generated by dedicated fans ensures that the success of Matthew Good Band will only continue to expand.
