Greatest Hits

The Stampeders Hailing from Calgary Alberta, the Stampeders were one of Canada's top singles bands of the early 70's. From 1970 to 1974 the Stampeders were one of the country's top concert draws and were the first band to tour the country from coast to coast.

Originally formed in 1965 as a six man band, the Stampeders tried their hand in Toronto for a time but they failed to attract much attention so returned to the west now reduced to a trio with Rich Dodson on guitar, Ronnie King on bass and Kim Berly on drums. In 1971 the band won Juno ( the Canadian grammy) awards in the categories, Best Group, Best Single, Best Composer and Best Producer for their second single, "Sweet City Woman" . Between 1971 and 1976 the Stampeders has an impressive 14 songs in the top 30

including ten top five singles and released nine albums most of which achieved gold and platinum status. The band broke up in 1977 only to reform again in 1992. The Stampeders continue to play and record albums today.

Greatest Hits: Over 70 minutes with... compiles 23 songs as recorded by the Stampeders between 71 to '76 including 6 previously unreleased tracks. All of the biggest hits are featured on the CD package including chart toppers: Carry Me, Sweet City Woman, Devil You, Wild Eyes, Hit The Road Jack and many more. A superb compilation of some of the best pop rock music Canada had to offer from the early 70's and clocking in at over 76 minutes it is a good value as well.
