Are there any Blink 182 fans in the audience? If this is the case, Lefty’s self-titled album
should be highly anticipated among fans of the alternative/punk/pop genre, which
includes bands such as Green Day and Treble Charger. A variety of guitar-packed songs
filled with youthful adrenaline and rapid drum fills would make this four-piece band feel
right at home at, say, Edgefest.
Like many current rock bands, Lefty have no problem expressing their opinion of
the opposite sex. The tune “Girls", which claims that “someone needs to put an end" to
our female friends, is cute but doesn’t have much musical substance. Several other songs
on the album are similar, somewhat lacking in depth and originality. Tracks like
“Wounded" and “Bye" might leave fans wondering why they didn’t just leave Dude
Ranch in their CD player.
However, the band does deserve merit for a few choice tunes,
such as “Addiction”, whose lyrics seem to evoke a vivid picture in the mind of the listener that is the whole idea of the song.

Also, more of the band’s previously obscured musical skills are revealed in “Useless Superstar”, which obviously has had more time put into it than most of the other songs on the album.
Lefty’s musical integrity may be questioned by some listeners, but the decision of where this band stands is ultimately in the hands of the masses, the ever-growing Generation Y with its constantly changing tastes. But after hearing this album, some people may feel it’s just to quote one of Canada’s top songstresses with a certain famous lyrical slice: That don’t impress me much.
